West Gallaton Farmhouse

 Self-Catered Holidays

Our beautiful farmhouse is located just over two miles south of Stonehaven, on the east coast of Scotland. In a peaceful, rural location, yet with easy access to the town, you can enjoy stunning views over open rural landscape, all the way to the sea. We offer self-catered holiday lets throughout the year.

The house comfortably accommodates up to five adults in three bedrooms. On the ground floor there is a spacious, fully-equipped dining kitchen, a cosy lounge with wood-burning stove, a bathroom, and a small single (internal) bedroom. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and and one with two single beds. Outside, the farmhouse has a large (60sqm), fully-enclosed terrace with garden furniture. There is enough parking space for several cars.

Most rooms have sea views. Pets are very welcome.

Stonehaven has shops, restaurants, pubs, playparks, an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, golf course, putting green, and of course its famous open-air heated swimming pool.  The town has a beautiful harbour which is lively in the summer with families paddling, sailing, kayaking or just sitting on the harbour wall enjoying a drink. There is a farmers' market in the square on the first Saturday morning of every month.

Click here to find out 'What's On' in Aberdeenshire throughout the year. Highlights in Stonehaven include the Feein' Market (June), The Real Ale Festival (June), Folk Festival (July), Highland Games (July), the Harbour Festival (August), as well as the world famous New Year Fireball Ceremony on hogmanay.

Visit Dunnottar Castle for an unforgettable experience. A dramatic ruined cliff top fortress in a truly stunning setting.

Stonehaven is full of great places to eat, from beachfront cafes to harbour hotels and  the Tolbooth, an award winning seafood restaurant located in one of Stonehaven's oldest buildings, overlooking the harbour.

Just along the road from the Farmhouse, riding lessons and hacks can be arranged at Halymyres riding stables. Stonehaven Golf course overlooks the bay. For cyclists, there are many safe quiet roads in this area, as well as forests for downhill biking. Dunnottar woods are at the end of the road - a very popular place for walking, with or without dogs.

The clifftop village of Catterline, with its spectacular sea views, is worth a trip. Watch the seals in the bay and enjoy lunch at the Creel Inn.

GUEST REVIEWS

July 2021

"My name is Emma and I am staying here with my mum and sister.  We all love this house, it’s so cozy and the location is perfect.  Mum’s in love with the wood burning stove and the lovely clean kitchen.  My sister Cara’s loving the double bed and the comfy couch.  I personally enjoy the walk-in closet in the double bedroom because it’s quiet and the perfect place to write in my diary!

View is beautiful, we love being able to see the sea from our window.  We all enjoyed the weather – very lucky to have some sun!

During our stay we went to ‘Jump-In’ and visited Stonehaven often to go to the skatepark and have an ice cream (we recommend the ice-cream shop called ‘Auntie Betty’s’.  We also went swimming.

This has, by far, been my favourite holiday yet!  Thank you for a wonderful time – we are definitely coming back."
